Madhu Yalamarthi is based in Silicon Valley and assists with investments in the US, India, and Latin America. He focuses on investments in Edtech, internet 3.0 (creator economy, decentralized marketplaces, and enabling fintech), climate change (food, B2B marketplaces, and EV), and cross-border SaaS companies. He is actively involved with Frubana, Labster, Rupeek, Slintel, Udaan, and Vedantu. Madhu co-hosts India-related programming for GGV’s “Evolving for the Next Billion” initiative.
Prior to joining GGV, Madhu lived and worked across India, Africa, and the US. He was a founding member and Director of Product for the Institute for Transformative Technologies (ITT), an initiative styled after GoogleX to productize and scale transformative technologies for social impact. He also worked at the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA), a unit under the Ethiopian Prime Minister’s office to transform the Ethiopian agriculture sector. Madhu co-designed Ethiopia’s Strategic Food Reserve, a $600M complex procurement, storage, and logistics effort, which supported 16 million people when the Eli Nino drought hit the country the following year.
Madhu holds an M.S. and an M.B.A. from Stanford University, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar (top 10% of the graduating class), and a Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, which recognized him as a Young Alumni Achiever under 40. He is the first in his family to graduate from college and finds meaning from supporting those with similar backgrounds.
