Eric Xu joined GGV Capital as Managing Partner in 2017. He is passionate about innovative ideas championed by promising entrepreneurs and determined to help them come true. Eric believes entrepreneurship goes hand-in-hand with innovation - the ability to produce new ideas; provide better solutions; and pioneer new products. The most successful entrepreneurs are not simply the hardest working, they’re the most innovative.
Eric has significant experience in working with early stage Chinese companies. He was most recently Managing Director with SIG Investment Asia where he led investments in the consumer Internet and FrontierTech sectors. At SIG, as an early stage investor Eric led the investments and served as board members with Babytree, XimalayaFM, 51Credit, Fruitday, Fanli, TouchPal, Meiyou, Kanghui (NYSE:KH), Bicon(SZ:002411), Adsame, ETCP, etc. Before SIG, he was an investment professional at CITIC Capital and TDF Capital (TDF formed an alliance with KPCB in China in 2007), where he led the first institutional investment intoChineseAll (300364.SZ) and VisualChina(000681.SZ).
Before the career of venture capital, Eric was an investment banker at CLSA and its JV in China. He is a graduate of Shanghai University of Finance & Economics and holds a Master of Finance from the University of Manchester (UK) School of Business and UMIST, respectively.
