Sun Wenhai (Alvin) joined GGV Capital as a Partner in early 2008. Alvin focuses on Internet, Media and new energy sectors, and currently sits on the boards of Oriental Wisdom, Hubs1 and Arcas.
Prior to GGV Capital, Alvin was the Executive Director of ePlanet Ventures (previously DFJ ePlanet Ventures), taking charge of the business development and operations of the fund in the Greater China area. During his six years with ePlanet, Alvin, after setting up ePlanet’s Beijing Office, led and participated in 14 investments in China, including KongZhong (NASDAQ: KONG), Long Cheer (SGX: L28), Focus Media (NASDAQ: FMCN), Spreadtrum (NASDAQ: SPRD). On behalf of ePlanet, Alvin served as Board Director of 7 portfolio companies, including G-Media, Kaitone and Incesoft, and Board Observer of 3 portfolio companies, including Hisoft and iKang Group.
Prior to ePlanet, Alvin worked for China International Capital Corporation (CICC). Before that, Alvin was an engineer and Project Manager of a State-Owned company.
Alvin received his MBA degree from the joint-program between M.I.T. and Tsinghua University, and he also received his bachelor degree of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering from Beijing Science & Technology University.
